According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), depression is characterized by overwhelming sadness and loss of interest. Common symptoms include:
Persistent feelings of sadness, emptiness, hopelessness, or irritability
Loss of appetite or weight changes
Sleep disturbances
Fatigue or decreased energy
Difficulty concentrating
Suicidal thoughts or ideation
However, my personal journey with depression and in shamanic tradition reveal a deeper truth: depression is not just a mood disorder – it's a heavy, dark energy that suffocates our inner light and originality.
This energy is rooted in illusions that:
We're unworthy of love and acceptance
We must hide our true selves
to avoid judgment and criticism
because caregivers were unavailable to comfort our sadness, leaving us feeling alone and unsupported
and for some, even worse – they may have responded with anger, yelling, hitting, or abuse, teaching us to suppress emotions to avoid pain
Our deepest emotions and thoughts are uncherished
My healing journey has been a powerful catalyst for transformation, allowing me to reclaim my light and inner strength. I've learned to confront my shadows, unlock trapped energies within my body, mind, and spirit, and embody courage – proving that fear no longer holds power over me.
This journey is not unique to me; many of my clients have also successfully unlocked their inner light. While challenging, the rewards are profound:
Fear converts to courage
Inner love and strength flourish
The realization that our inner light cannot be stolen – regardless of past traumas or pain inflicted by others
Healing is a heroic journey, a return to the light that has always resided within us. Are you ready to embark on this transformative path and reclaim your inner light?
